Armadillo Oil

Dr. Austin’s Original Formula “Armadillo Oil”. Oil of 1,000,0001 Uses.
So this little bottle boldly claims. To my knowledge I have one of the few bottles of this magic elixir in the world. The bottom of the bottle gives some clue to its origin: Bottled in Austin, Texas by Austin Texans © 1981 Armadillo Amusements. I’m familiar with the full back story. In 1981 my father and uncle dreamed up the idea for this bottle. I think a lot of people get the idea for a fun little project like this, but the difference is my father really followed through with it. Soon labels were printed, bottles purchased, an office space rented in Austin, Post Office Box setup, and a delivery van put into action. I don’t think it ever got much beyond that, as a year or so later the remaining cases of bottles were stored in a plastic storange tent on our family land in Leander, and soon after carried off in a huge flood. Luckily I had taken one bottle out of the storage area and kept it in my room, carrying it around with me ever since.

In the small type here we are told for whom this was intended: For Gullible Rednecks, Aggies, Yankees, Wetbacks, Tourists & Teasippers.
