Last Night on McKibbin Street

Piles of boxes and stuff all packed and ready to move.

End of an era: Nearly two years of living in the “McKibbin dorms” will be over tomorrow morning.

Overall this has been a good place for me. My amazing room with its huge bank of windows where I watched all manner of weather and human spectacle. The friendly folks at Potion and The Archive that helped define this collection of buildings into a neighborhood. Let’s not forget Brooklyn’s Natural, the grocery store that everyone loves to hate and begrudgingly appreciate.

Potion Cafe deserves a special mention. Len and Jen and all of the exceptional people behind the counter have really transformed this block, providing a central gathering point for conversation, art, and music as well as the essential caffeinated beverages for the morning jolt and the cold beer to wrap up the evening. Alas ! The time has come to move on.

Most of the negative experiences had to do with the immature folks that live in these buildings, and specifically the hell that is living beneath the worst band in the world and the most inconsiderate upstairs neighbors—Smite, aka. Devious Semantics.

Nearly everything is packed, just this computer and the desk that holds it and a few miscellaneous items. The movers are supposed to show up around 11:30am tomorrow…

HARLEM, HO !
